2024 marks the one-hundred-year anniversary of Caesar Cardini creating the world-famous Caesar salad and dressing

First created in 1924, Cardini’s iconic salad dressing is celebrating 100 years since the original Caesar recipe was first made by Caesar Cardini.

To mark its centenary, Cardini’s Caesar Dressing is investing in a marketing campaign to share the story on how the iconic dressing was first created and highlight the versatility of the delicious dressing that is still made to the original Cardini recipe today.

Alongside a new PR and advertising campaign, recipes have been developed that will bring a fresh twist to summer dining for its loyal and new customers.

Caesar continues to be the most popular salad dressing flavour in the multiples, where share has increased 5 per cent versus last year to 25 per cent (NielsenIQ 12 weeks to w.e. 24.02.24).

Currently sitting in the top ten of the category, Cardini’s Original Caesar Dressing popularity has been reflected in its most recent sales, with a fourth successive year of volume growth and 2023 seeing its highest volume sales year in the convenience, wholesale, independent and web channels (RH Amar sales-out data).

Despite being one of America’s most famous dishes, it was actually at ‘Caesars’ restaurant in Mexico, where the Caesar salad recipe was born. The classic mix of creamy sauce and lettuce is now loved across the globe, and home cooks can enjoy a taste of history with a drizzle of the Original Caesar Dressing on their own creations.

Created with premium quality ingredients, Cardini’s Caesar Dressing has a rich, full flavour – perfect in a host of dishes.

Phil Marx, UK Brand Manager for Cardini’s says “This is an exciting year for Cardini’s as it enters its centenary. Caesar Cardini was the creator of the Caesar salad and dressing and in the 100 years since he created it, it has become a household name. This is reflected in strong sales for Cardini’s, which last year saw its biggest year yet – reflecting consumer demand for the original Caesar dressing.”

Caesar Cardini’s Dressing is available in 250ml or 350ml bottles in leading supermarkets including Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Waitrose, Ocado, Booths and selected Co-op stores. Prices start at £2.55.
