The fifth wine in the range is launching this month in Co-op stores nationwide
The Hidden Sea has added a fifth wine to its portfolio in the UK. The Hidden Sea Red Blend is the first red wine from the brand to be ready to be purchased nationwide* and is available to retailers now.
The new-to-market Red Blend joins The Hidden Sea’s existing line up of vegan wines, including Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Rosé and Shiraz stocked in selected Asda, Sainsbury’s, Co–op and Booths stores with an RRP of £9. Red Blend will debut in selected Co-op stores this month and joins the wider range in actively removing plastic from the world’s oceans.
Following primary research, the Red Blend was adapted for UK ‘Generation Treaters’; a younger consumer and confident wine drinker, with very frequent and higher spending habits and a willingness to trade up to exciting brands and varieties. The Hidden Sea Red Blend 2020 (abv 14.5%) is a heady and well-crafted combination of Shiraz (82%), Cabernet Sauvignon (17%) and a tiny splash of Malbec, to produce a bright crimson wine with delicious aromas of red berries, fruit cake spice and toasty oak.
Co-founded by Aussie rules football star-turned-winemaker Richie Vandenberg, and eco-conscious entrepreneur Justin Moran, the brand removes and recycles the equivalent of 10 single-use plastic bottles for every bottle of The Hidden Sea sold**. The launch of the Red Blend comes following an incredible milestone for The Hidden Sea in February 2022 – it has successfully removed and recycled over 10 million single-use plastic bottles from the world’s waters as it works towards its one billion bottle goal by 2030.
Justin Moran, Co-founder of The Hidden Sea, said “The Hidden Sea Red Blend will play a key role in actively removing plastic from the world’s waters, offering delicious, high-quality liquid for those that are aware of the environmental impact of their purchasing decisions. Critically, it offers retailers a new reason to stock The Hidden Sea and take even more plastic out of the ocean.
“The Red Blend has been created to offer consumers a wine that offers depth and complexity.”
Pete Fairclough, Brand Manager at Kingsland Drinks Group, added “There has been an increase in demand from consumers for further offerings from this innovative and compelling brand. Since launching, it has cemented its position as a powerful player on the wine fixture. With lots of activity in the pipeline this year to build on that momentum, we’re focused on driving footfall to store and engaging consumers in The Hidden Sea range and its powerful ethos.”
The Hidden Sea recently entered a licence agreement with Climate Active with the goal of achieving carbon neutral status for its range of wines for vintage year 2021 and onwards. The company is currently measuring its carbon footprint from grape growing all the way through to customers taking ownership of the wines produced.

**For every case of The Hidden Sea sold globally, one kilo of plastic is removed from the ocean and recycled – that’s the equivalent of 60 plastic bottles removed for every case purchased.
