Focusing on innovation and that health boosting superfood ‘the Coconut’, OkoBay has created a range of natural Coconut Water Ice lollies – something of a world first. Taking the market by storm, they managed to secure major grocery listings in the UK, Spain, Sweden and Norway as well as national distribution through a number of frozen foods wholesalers servicing the independent health food sector. The Grocer New Product Awards 2014 rated them “20/20 for Innovation and relevance”.
The products are available in both 105ml single serve for on the go and 3 x 105ml multi-packs for the take home market. OkoBay’s Ices are Naturally Hydrating, Dairy Free, Gluten Free, Soy Free, and Vegan, contain no artificial additives – and are only 63kcals per serving.
Since launching to market OkoBay’s Coconut Water Ice has been voted ‘Highly Recommended’ in the Free Form Awards 2014 and The Grocer New Product Awards 2014. It was also a Finalist at The Natural & Organic Awards 2014 in the Best New Food Product Category and nominated at VegFest UK for ‘The Best New Coconut Product 2014’.
The Free Form 2014 judging panel describe their products as: “Pleasant, sweet fruity-fresh palate cleanser – lovely taste!”-“Wonderfully Free-From!”. While Cambridge Market Research claimed the products to be: “Indulgent, refreshing, colourful and funky, something for adults and families… the product has a high level of sales potential”.
The future looks bright for OkoBay as 2015 sees them launching a vegan, vegetarian, dairy free frozen dessert range of Coconut Milk Ice Creams. They contain all the health benefits of coconut as well as 50% less calories than traditional ice cream. Launching in 4 different flavours: Coconut, Chocolate, Guava and Mango. The tubs come in 500ml and 125ml variants and will be available both nationally and internationally from March.
