Takul, the exciting new Halal chilled convenience food brand, is extending its range with a further 11 sku’s in Tesco and has also won listings in 189 Sainsbury’s stores nationwide, all from 12th September.

Following the success of the recent launch of the ready meals and snacks range in 260 Tesco stores in June, the range of pizzas, deli meats and pastries will now be added to the Tesco range. In addition, Sainsbury’s will be listing 6 Takul sku’s across pizzas and meals. This line-up of 18 products means Takul has quickly become the brand of choice for halal convenience food in the retail market.

Stonehouse Foods, the specialist world food supplier, developed the brand on the back of insights from Ogilvy Noor. Led by vice-president of Islamic marketing, Shelina Janmohamed, the research showed that 80% of British Muslims want major retailers to add halal family meal solutions to their offer and 85% are looking for more western style foods that are halal.

Hand-topped with options such as meat feast and meatball marinara, the stone-baked pizzas are made to an original Italian recipe. The hand-stretched dough, proven for 24 hours is thin and crispy. The tex-mex meals are perfect for when you need a delicious, convenient choice and want something a bit different. The meat in the meals is 100% British. The pasties also use British meat, with golden, flaky pastry and are a tasty, versatile option at home or on-the-go.

The UK halal market is currently worth £3.5bn and the UK population of 4 million British Muslims is set to triple by 2050.
