Leading World Food Suppliers, TAJ Foods, have expanded its north distribution with the acquisition of an approx 1.4 acre cold store facility. TAJ Foods have an extensive coverage of the African, Latin American and South Asian markets within the UK. The acquisition of the former Rick Bestwick Facility in Sheffield brings the groups holding to over 10,000 pallet space. Operating since 1980, the family run business has strived to provide quality, effortless and innovative cooking products to the frozen food market. TAJ specialises in herbs, exotic vegetables and party food with distribution networks across Foodservice, Independents and Supermarket chains.

Speaking with CEO, Anil Solanki, “We are delighted to add this facility to our distribution network to reach new territories and facilitate the growth of our existing customers. We are grateful to receive such tremendous support from Rick, Pam and Neil Bestwick from Bestwick Estates Ltd. This facility will allow us to improve our carbon footprint and efficiency of our supply chain. We would also like to pay homage to the excellent services provided from Bob Franklin of HF Refrigeration Ltd for the commissioning of the cold store and Mark Gregory from Linde East for the supply of specialist Mechanical Equipment. Taj look forward to creating new jobs and being a key employer in the area.”

Operating over numerous sites across the UK, TAJ Foods can facilitate next day deliveries across UK mainland. Internationally, they have grown distribution sites in Europe, the Middle East & Australia allowing coverage across the globe.

Speaking with Sales Director, Jimal Solanki, “With limited shelf space, BREXIT and global weather challenges, the frozen food industry continues to be a competitive market.  Despite this, TAJ Foods continues to grow as the leading ethnic frozen brand experiencing sustained sales growth in every sector. Our new distribution centre will streamline our sales operations amongst all our customers reducing lead times and giving us coverage into sectors such as Halal which have been experiencing the largest levels of growth.”

The company said the Sheffield Depot aims to be operational from this month.
