Retailers can ship products straight to the shop floor with Goplasticpallets.com’s new point-of-sale pallet. Manufactured by Smart Flow in Belgium, the APB6080 display pallet is only available in the UK through Goplasticpallets.com.
The APB6080 display pallet saves retailers the hassle of unpacking products in the store room, as products can be transferred directly to the merchandising area using pallet trucks or forklifts. As a result, retailers can achieve cost and environmental savings as the process requires fewer staff and generates less packaging waste.
Although some retailers currently use wooden pallets with display boxes for promoting merchandise, plastic pallets offer significant benefits. They look more attractive on the shop floor, which is essential to entice customers and encourage impulse purchases. They are also more hygienic, not carrying the safety risks associated with timber pallets, such as mould, dust, nails and splinters. Keith Jenkins from Proteus Packaging, specialists in printing packaging systems, said: “We produce a lot of display stands for supermarkets and DIY stores, including Tescos, B&Q and Homebase, and most of them are made to fit certain size pallets. Transporting display stands on wooden pallets requires delicate handling to stop the display moving. Although staples can be used to fix the display to the pallet, this is a fiddly and time-consuming task. Goplasticpallets.com’s new plastic display pallet alleviates this problem and also makes the construction of the cardboard display much simpler and cheaper. The slot around the top of the pallet is deep enough to hold the display securely in place.”
The APB6080 display pallet has been specially designed with a slot around the top deck to fit a 7mm cardboard display box or plastic sleeves. As the pallet nests, it saves considerable space in storage and transportation as it can be piled up to 78 pallets high, which allows a standard trailer load of 66 stacks to transport 5,148 pallets in one go. When reversed, the pallet stacks, making it suitable for pallet loading cassettes and automated systems.
Measuring 800mm (L) x 600mm (W) x 130mm (H), the APB6080 display pallet is available with an open or closed deck, with or without an edge rim. The standard pallet comes in recycled black high-density polyethylene (HDPE) or virgin HDPE. For large orders, the pallet is available in a variety of different colour options and can be personalised with a moulded insert allowing retailers to protect their products from damage or loss in transportation.
The APB6080 display pallet can also be recycled, so at the end of its long working life the pallet can be re-granulated and re-used in other plastic products.
In August last year, pallet signs were introduced in the UK to help retailers hide unsightly pallets from view. With Goplasticpallets.com’s APB6080 display pallet there is nothing to hide, as it’s much easier on the eye than wooden varieties.
