2016 was the year that the world’s most iconic meat SPAM® Chopped Pork and Ham celebrated its 75th UK anniversary, hitting the highways and byways of the UK on the SPAM® Can Tour.
Kicking off back in March, the first stop on the tour was Liverpool – the original UK home of SPAM® Products. It then went on to visit other key locations across the country, from air shows in Sunderland and Blackpool to family festivals such as CarFest and Birmingham Foodies Festival.

Touring the country in a specially branded vintage airstream, the SPAM® Team served up the increasingly popular SPAM® Fries to more than 200,000 visitors throughout 2016. The response from attendees was more than enthusiastic, with fans showing their love of the canned meat by sharing recipe ideas and memories, while getting their photo taken in a Giant SPAM® Can and playing the specially created SPAM® Can game to win branded merchandise.

Tour visitors also received a free commemorative tour recipe lanyard, showing the various ways SPAM® Can be enjoyed, from the ultimate breakfast fry up to traditional favourites such as SPAM® Hash. They also received a free branded trolley coin that can be used in all major UK supermarkets and keeps the SPAM® Brand front of mind during the weekly shop.

The tour generated much regional, national, and even international, media attention reaching an audience of more than 50 million worldwide, while a special tour hashtag #SPAMCanTour charted the tour’s success on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. The first UK SPAM® Can Tour complemented the SPAMERICAN!™ Tour, which celebrated its second year on the road in the USA throughout 2016.
