Whether it’s for wrapping presents or creating home-made decorations, Sellotape is an essential purchase for the festive season. To make the brand even more desirable, retailers are being encouraged to offer consumers special price promotions on the key Christmas lines.
The key products for Sellotape over the Christmas period include the iconic Golden Tape; the seamless Super Clear Tape that provides maximum clarity using the latest Sello Clear Technology; and the new colourful, easy-to-use, Decorative Spots. Other popular lines include Double-Sided and Clever Tape which can be written on with pencil or pen for a fully personal touch.
National multiples will be running a number of promotions, including ‘Mix and Match’ offers to encourage shoppers to buy more than one line, and convenience stores will be running either BOGOF’s, “3 for 2” or half price offers across the range.
Elpida Stavrou, Senior Brand Manager for Henkel Consumer Adhesives UK, said: “This is a key time of the year for Sellotape, with a strong demand from users in a highly competitive market place. It’s crucial that we work with all of our retail partners – multiples and independents – to ensure that their customers are offered value for money for top quality products, but that they are fully aware of the ranges that are available.”
To increase visibility of the key lines, retailers are also being offered branded standing fixtures, point of purchase displays and Sellotape “bins” for loose roles. They have also been encouraged to put the bins and displays in relevant, easy to see areas with high footfall, to sit along side other essential gifting purchases, such as wrapping paper and ribbons.
Stavrou adds; “We have been working closely with retailers to make sure that displays are placed in the part of the store that’s relevant to gifting. They have also been advised to run offers on gifting bundles to encourage customers to buy all of their materials in the one shop.”
