On the back of another record-breaking year for UK sales, family-owned chocolate producer Ritter Sport is celebrating a significant new national listing in Morrisons. 2020 was the sixth consecutive year of growth for Ritter Sport since it launched its affiliate in the UK with the new supermarket listing expected to further bolster its impressive growth.
The square chocolate brand already stocked in Sainsbury’s, Waitrose, Ocado Coop, BP & NISA amongst others outperformed the total block chocolate market with growth of +37%* YOY, that’s a remarkable +50% ahead of the category. An outstanding 79% of Ritter Sport’s growth was incremental to the total chocolate category^. Furthermore, with Ritter Sport’s sales outperforming in all channels, with most notably the Grocery Multiples sector up 19% points*, news of the new distribution within Morrisons comes at an extremely buoyant time for the brand.
The launch includes six of Ritter Sport’s delicious chocolate bars across its much loved Colourful Variety and newly redesigned Nut Selection ranges. Marzipan, Rum Raisins & Hazelnuts, Peppermint, Milk Whole Hazelnut, Honey Salted Almond and a first to market in Cashew are all set to land in Morrison’s stores from February 17th.
In addition to reporting record sales Ritter sport also reported record levels of penetration growth at +59% vs 2019, significant growth in frequency (+6%) and spend per buyer (+14%)**. The addition of Morrison’s therefore looks set to further support growing consumer demand for the brand making it even more accessible.
