Richmond has unveiled the latest addition to its recently launched Extra Tasty range, with the arrival of its all-new Pigs in Blankets in time for Christmas – available exclusively across Tesco stores nationwide from 27th November.
Richmond is a heritage brand, known for its expertise in meat and sausages. Its iconic taste, created from a unique blend of herbs and spices, has been loved by families for over 134 years, and its products enjoyed in a third of UK households, by more than 20 million people.
Growth of affordable treating
With households feeling the ongoing strain of the cost-of-living crisis, many are cutting back on eating out, with 50% of consumers dining out less frequently. However, according to NPD experts at Richmond, even as people stay in to save money, the desire for affordable yet elevated treats remain strong, especially in the run up to the festive season.

Taste is now incredibly important, influencing 66% of food choices[1]. The launch of Richmond’s Extra Tasty Pigs in Blankets sees the brand bring its well-known taste credentials into those extra special festive moments with its classic pork cocktail sausages wrapped in streaky beechwood smoked bacon – the perfect addition to festive mealtime occasions.
Last year, supermarket sales of pigs in blankets saw a substantial rise, increasing by £21.9m during November and December[2], proving they remain a Christmas favourite amongst shoppers. Fresh sausage sales also grow in the run up to Christmas, with sales increasing 30% across the final three months of 2023[3].
The launch of Extra Tasty Pigs in Blankets is designed to tap into this demand and help to boost sales during the seasonal period.

The campaign aims to remind everyone to cherish those precious moments often taken for granted and highlight the comfort of classic meals from trusted brands. It features both meat and meat-free options, running across TV, VOD, and social media platforms.
