One of the largest supermarket launches for a challenger drinks brand and a landmark moment for the no and low category
REAL, the slow-fermented sparkling tea, today announces its arrival in Tesco stores from 21st April. With REAL Blush launching into over 880 stores nationwide, this is one of the largest supermarket listings a brand of its kind has achieved bringing slow fermented sparkling tea to a mainstream audience at scale.
Founded by David Begg in 2017, REAL has spent nearly a decade building a category that didn’t previously exist. As the UK’s only dedicated slow-fermentation facility of its kind, REAL uses a patent-pending process that takes several weeks to produce drinks with natural complexity, structure and depth – made from just four natural ingredients, with no additives and no compromise. All production takes place at The Fermentery on the Waddesdon Estate in Buckinghamshire, a purpose-built facility inspired by traditional wineries and the only one of its kind in the UK.
The Tesco listing follows REAL’s selection for the Tesco Accelerator Programme, which supports high-growth challenger brands with increased visibility, strategic backing and the opportunity to scale within one of the UK’s largest retailers.
The launch marks a significant moment for the wider no and low category, as consumer appetite continues to shift toward drinks that lead with flavour and craft rather than absence.
David Begg, Founder of REAL, said: “REAL is a true disruptor, made from tea, fermented like wine, bottled like champagne. From just four ingredients. Getting into over 880 Tesco stores means people who’ve never heard of us will encounter it for the first time. That’s what this is about“.
REAL Blush will be available in over 880 Tesco stores nationwide from 21st April 2026, priced at £10 RRP.
