Following a successful UK product launch, and successful trials in Germany and the Netherlands, Quorn will supply meat-free products to KFC restaurants across Europe.

  • Quorn and KFC will bring the best tasting meat-free food to several thousand European restaurants, in products from a KFC big bucket to a veggie wrap.
  • The first market to launch the new products will be Germany.
  • The new launch follows the huge success of the KFC Original Recipe Vegan Burger, currently available in UK and Ireland.

The UK’s leading meat alternative brand, Quorn, has today announced that with KFC it’s expanding into multiple new European markets in 2022, starting with Germany.

As the global demand for meat-free alternatives continues to grow, estimated to be worth $27 billion by 2027, and $1 trillion by 2040, Quorn is set to develop meat-free chicken products for the global fast-food chain which will be available in several thousand additional restaurants.

The market expansion follows the successful and widely publicised launch of the KFC Vegan Burger in the UK, made with a bespoke Quorn fillet, and coated in the Colonel’s secret recipe of 11 herbs and spices.

The Vegan Chicken Burger was launched in the UK in 2020 following a highly successful two-week trial in June 2019 with stock selling out in just four days. To date, sales of the vegan burger have shown the meat-free menu option to be a firm customer favourite since its launch in the UK and Ireland, and it became a permanent item in all KFC restaurants in January 2022.

Bespoke products have also been trialled in Germany and the Netherlands, and subsequently the pioneering brand is working with KFC on developing a range of new meat-free menu options, from big buckets to veggie wraps.

Peter Harrison, Chief Commercial Officer at Quorn, said: “To cater to the growing demand for meat-free food around the world, we’re delighted to be working with KFC in more markets following the success of the KFC Vegan Chicken Burger in UK and Ireland. Ensuring there are delicious meat-free food choices for consumers, wherever and whenever they make food decisions, is key to our mission of providing healthy food for people and planet.”

Kate Wall, Strategy & Innovation Director at KFC, said: “Our fans were thrilled to see the launch of our Vegan Burger in 2020. The Original Recipe Vegan Burger proved to be such a success in the UK and Ireland that we have already tested Quorn-based products in several other countries, and plan to extend into multiple European markets in the coming months. We are excited to continue working with Quorn to deliver great tasting meat-free options to more KFC fans across Europe.”
