The show, now in its 17th year, attracted over 8,000 industry professionals including buyers from independent health stores, healthcare and trade journalists, and national and international retailers. The Natural Products Live forum offered an education programme where medical herbalist and HPAC expert Dr Chris Etheridge was joined by two independent experts – nutritionist Yvonne Bishop-Weston and fitness expert Lisa Gawthorn to discuss the debate on to how to deal with Britain’s ‘health time-bomb’.

Dr Etheridge reported on the findings from HPAC’s recent study which questioned 2,000 people across the UK to find out how we view important elements of our health, providing insight into the rise in use of herbal medicines throughout the UK, as well as reviewing the nation’s digestive fitness, experience of stress, beliefs about their immune system, how we deal with coughs and colds and sleep behaviour.

Carla Rampley, Senior Brand Manager of Potter’s Herbals, said: “Education is an essential part of the growth in demand for natural products. More and more, people are asking questions about what they are consuming, such as where it has come from, what processes it has been through and whether it has natural active ingredients.

“We found that nearly of half of us would rather take a herbal medicine than a conventional medicine because of safety concerns, such as fear of side effects of conventional medicines, addiction, gastric bleeding, or whether over usage of conventional medicines would render them ineffective.

“It was great to be able to impart our findings to such a wide and interactive audience both at the speaker platform and also at the Potter’s Herbals exhibition stand.”

Potter’s Herbals provides a distinctive range of tried and tested licensed herbal remedies with specially selected ingredients developed with the wisdom and intelligence of Henry Potter.
