But a new Gastro Pub range of pork scratchings from Openshaws of Wigan, got the seal of approval  when it hit the mark with Robin and his Merry Men at the Nottingham Food and Drink Festival over the Bank Holiday weekend.

The products – the latest from Fresher’s Foods including Black Pudding flavour pork scratchings, Cumberland Sausage and BBQ Pulled Pork were one of the big hits of the Festival which attracted over 4000 visitors to the grounds of Nottingham Castle.

“We showcased the Gastro Range and got an excellent response”, said Fresher’s sales manager Alan Barnes. The Black Pudding seemed to appeal more to the men and Cumberland Sausage and Pulled Pork to both men and women.

“Robin Hood himself plumped for the Black Pudding.”

Meanwhile Fresher’s are planning to showcase the new products to farm shops, delis and gastro pubs across the North when they exhibit at the Fine Food Show at Harrogate on June 21-22 and are also looking for new direct accounts and distributors.
