pladis, the global snacking company behind some of the UK’s most loved and iconic brands, is launching two new milkshake variants to join its popular original McVitie’s Penguin Cake Bar.
Available in packs of five bars, McVitie’s Penguin Strawberry Milkshake Cake Bar is a chocolatey cake bar topped with a smooth strawberry milkshake flavoured cream covered in milk chocolate, while McVitie’s Penguin Chocolate Milkshake Cake Bar is a chocolatey cake bar topped with a smooth chocolate milkshake flavoured cream, also encased in milk chocolate.
“These deliciously soft cake bars with milkshake flavoured cream are inspired by the trending concept of milkshake flavours, bringing a fun and indulgent twist to the beloved Penguin brand,” explains Zeynep Daghan Erol, Brand Manager, pladis UK&I.
“We are building on the popularity of our original Penguin Cake Bar, which has a rich and creamy chocolate filling layered on a delicious spongey base. We have introduced what we know are two popular milkshake flavours to our cake bars, and they performed particularly well in testing, where 69% of consumers found Penguin Milkshake concept to be unique and 81% expressed strong interest in trying and purchasing it[1].
“The cake bars are individually wrapped for convenience, and are a great on-the-go treat or lunchtime snack.”
The popular Penguin brand – bars and cake bars – has 22.8% penetration and an impressive brand awareness of 95%[2].
The five packs of McVitie’s Penguin Strawberry Milkshake Cake Bar and McVitie’s Penguin Chocolate Milkshake Cake Bar (RRP £1.75) are on-shelf in Morrisons from Monday 24 March before rolling out more widely to other multiple retailers, convenience stores and wholesale depots from mid-April.
