Aldi is recruiting for 600 new roles at its new automated Distribution Centre in Bardon, Leicestershire, as the supermarket continues to build its operations at the site over the next year.
The Bardon Distribution Centre began operations in May 2026 and is Aldi’s first automated distribution centre in the UK. The UK’s biggest discount grocer has invested more than £500m into the site, as part of its £1.6bn UK expansion plan. In September, the retailer reached another milestone in the ramp up with the start of fresh produce operations at the site. Once fully operational, Bardon will be the biggest supermarket distribution centre in the country, capable of moving around seven million pallets each year, supporting stores across the Midlands and beyond.
The opportunities on offer, with start dates over the next year, span warehouse operations, logistics and transport, offering successful applicants the chance to join the Aldi team and develop skills in modern warehouse technology.
The roles currently being recruited include:
- Warehouse Pickers
- Warehouse Operations Assistants
- Transport Assistants
Successful applicants will benefit from competitive rates of pay. Warehouse Operations Assistants currently earn from £13.31 to £16.64 per hour, depending on shift pattern, with competitive salaries also available across transport and other operational roles.
Jonathan Heaton, Managing Director of Bardon at Aldi, said: “We’re really looking forward to welcoming more people to the Bardon team as recruitment continues over the coming months. It’s a fantastic opportunity for anyone looking to build a career in logistics, whether they’re just starting out or bringing previous experience, and to build the technical skills that are increasingly valuable in modern supply chain operations.
“We’re also proud to be working with local colleges and employment partners to help create opportunities for people across Leicestershire. Every new colleague joining Bardon will play an important role in supporting Aldi’s continued growth and helping us build our future distribution network.”
Minister for Employment, Andrew Western MP, said: “This is great news for people across Leicestershire.
“We are determined to get people back to work in every postcode by transforming Jobcentre Plus and accelerating our £2.5 billion youth employment support package, creating up to one million opportunities for young people to earn or learn.”
Aldi is one of 40 retailers that recently signed up to ‘Opening Shift’, a partnership with Government and the BRC to offer 11,000 work experience placements for 18-24 year olds. The scheme’s target is to create 100,000 jobs for young people in the sector by the end of this Parliament.
