Asda gets match ready to provide customers with everything they need to celebrate in style on Sunday

Asda.com sees 617% increase in online searches for “England” related products** 
  • 2.4 million bottles of beer expected to sell across Saturday and Sunday  
  • 150,000 individual pizzas set to be freshly made from Asda’s much loved pizza counter.  
  • 473,000 Smash Beef Burgers have been sold so far which is enough to feed a sellout Olympiastadion Berlin six times over.

As the nation kicks off into football fever, Asda have called extra time on the celebrations ahead of England’s Euro tournament final on Sunday against Spain with its Operation ‘It Asda Be Coming Home’. 

With millions of people across the country now planning parties, BBQs and get togethers, Operation ‘It Asda Be Coming Home’ will provide customer with everything they need to celebrate in style. 

It’s safe to say shoppers are gearing up to throw watch parties with customer searches on Asda.com seeing a whopping 617% increase in search terms for England and a 130% increase in searches for Football compared to the same day last week. ‘England top’, ‘football socks’ and ‘England kit’  all feature in the top ten top searches.  ? 

Football Frenzy Food & Drink Deals   

  • Pizza Pundits: Ahead of Sunday’s final, Asda expects to sell 150,000 pizzas from its much loved pizza counter, which sees a 20% sales uplift on match days. Asda’s popular £6 Pizza Meal Deal (which feeds two and includes 2x medium pizzas and 1x large drink) will save customers a whopping £26 versus popular pizza takeaways. For bigger parties, Asda’s £12 Pizza Meal Deal (which includes 2x large pizzas, 2x sides and 2x dips) works out at just £3 per person.  

  • Beers to Berlin: Asda has sold 13.6m units of Budweiser since the start of the tournament – enough to cover the distance of a return journey from Wembley to Berlin! Over the weekend is expecting to sell over 2.4 million bottles of beer. Customers can snap up deals on 24-pack Budweiser (330ml) for just £12 and 2 for £20 on Peroni (10 pack, 330ml) and San Miguel (12 pack, 330 ml). 

  • Get in the Nanzone: Asda’s new “It’s Coming Home” viewing party bundle is perfect for customers choosing to watch the game in the comfort of their own home, and Asda is encouraging the nation to make sure nobody is watching the game alone – whether that’s nans or friends – invite them around. At just under £3 per head for a party of eight, the bundle includes 8x Smash Beef Burgers, 4x cans of Carlsberg, 4x cans of Kopparberg, 1x 150g bag of Sensations Crisps complete with 10x George red cups, 12x George red paper plates and 50-pack George red napkins to style your table.  

  • Kane the BBQ: proving that Brits love a BBQ whatever the weather, total sales of BBQs across Asda stores and George.com are up 52% month on month since kick-off, and Asda has sold over 473K Smash Beef Burgers – enough to feed a sellout Olympiastadion Berlin six times over.  

  • Half time treats: sweet-toothed customers are loving Asda’s football frosted cupcakes, just £5 for a 9-pack, with sales increasing by 23% in the first week of the tournament alone.

With top searches in the last week on George.com related to the games including England kit, football, football socks and England baby.  

Best seat in the house 

Asda customers have been ensuring they have the best seat and view in the house with over 20k large screen ultra-high-definition TVs sold since June, with even more sales expected in coming days to impress family and friends. 

Asda Southgate Store Commission Southgate Pizza 

Asda Southgate store in London has commissioned a commemorative pizza with the image of England football manager Gareth Southgate face to celebrate reaching the final.  

Pizza the action – Our colleagues have been getting creative on the pizza counters with good luck messages made out of pepperoni spelling out “It’s Coming Home” and Asda Halesowen store created a special pizza tribute to Jude Bellingham who was born a couple of miles down the road.  

Funding future footballers: Since the last kick of the 2021 Euros final, the Asda Foundation have supported more than 6200 grassroots community groups with a total of over £5m of funding, championing local sports groups across the UK. Asda’s charity are encouraging local teams (girls and boys) to get in touch with their local store’s community champion to find out more and how they can apply.
