The Organic Trade Board (OTB) is pleased to welcome the world’s largest independent online grocery supermarket, Ocado.com, as its newest member. Voted the Best Organic Supermarket by consumers in 2014, Ocado.com currently stocks over 2,800 organic products and has now launched a dedicated organic hub www.ocado.com/organic to further simplify shopping for consumers.
Recent OTB research, ‘A Fresh Look at the Organic Consumer’ has revealed that, despite a growing organic market in the UK, 15-20 per cent of shoppers are not buying organic at supermarkets due to a lack of availability. With nearly 12 per cent of organic sales being driven by online purchases and vegetable boxes, Ocado.com is well placed to meet the demands of the organic consumer at the click of a button.
Catherine Fookes, Campaign Manager at the OTB comments: “We are delighted that Ocado.com has become the newest member of the Organic Trade Board. One of our main aims is to ensure that organic food is available and accessible to everyone and Ocado.com’s fantastic range, online delivery service and newly launched vegetable box offering is doing just that.
It’s great to see such a wide variety of organic products and brands, from tiny independents to well recognised names, available to buy in one place.”
Lucy Fry, Senior Buying Manager at Ocado.com comments: “Joining the Organic Trade Board seemed like a natural progression for us. At Ocado.com we are passionate about organic products and are thrilled that we are able to fill a gap in the market by providing organic consumers with a convenient way to shop.”
