• £15m invested to cut the price of over 200 popular products from breakfast options to fresh produce
  • In total, over 1,000 prices have been locked low for the next eight weeks, including over 350 health and beauty branded products

Morrisons has invested £15 million to cut the price of popular products this January in a bid to help its customers through the January squeeze after the expense of Christmas.

Over 200 products are being cut by an average of 20 per cent including cupboard essentials and breakfast options, as well as fresh produce to help people have a nutritious and healthy start to the year. Some of the biggest price reductions include Morrisons washing up liquid (450ml) reduced from 75p to 59p, a five-pack of bananas from 99p to 78p, Morrisons brown basmati rice (1kg) from £2.99 to £1.85 and chopped tomatoes (400g) from 60p to 49p.

In total, Morrisons has confirmed 1,000 items have had their prices locked low for the next eight weeks (from the 27th December) to make budgets go further. This is the second year in a row that Morrisons has continued its commitment to a rolling programme of eight week price ‘locks’ on thousands of products, so that customers can plan their budgets confidently without worrying about price fluctuations.

Popular basket items including whole cucumbers, salad tomatoes and iceberg lettuce as well as family dinnertime favourites like pasta and minced steak are included in the price freeze.  350 health and beauty products such as Lynx Africa Shower Gel, Radox Bath Salts and Nivea Soft Moisturising Cream are also included for those looking for a cleanse after the festive season.

Rachel Eyre, Chief Customer and Marketing Officer at Morrisons, said: “We know that January can be a difficult month for many after enjoying the festive season, so we wanted to do all we can to keep prices low without any compromise on quality.  Whether it’s helping our customers with ingredients for nutritious meals or making it easier for them to stock up on toiletries, we are starting the new year as we finished the last one – with a real focus on meaningful price cuts across all areas of our stores.”

The January price cuts are the latest move from Morrisons in helping its customers save money across their weekly shop and follows recent fuel deals offering customers 5p off every litre of fuel purchased, festive More Card Exclusives for More Card loyalty members and offering kids to eat free all day everyday in cafés.

The new cuts and locked low prices are now available in all 496 Morrisons supermarkets and most products can be found online.

The 200 products are being cut between December 27th 2023 and January 4th 2024.
