Award-winning McGuigan Wines alcohol-free range, Zero, has become the first still, alcohol-free wine range to be distributed in all four major grocery retailers, after securing distribution in the UK’s largest grocer, Tesco.

The Sauvignon Blanc and Shiraz is available now in Tesco supermarkets, following the expansion of the Zero range in ASDA and Sainsbury’s earlier this year.

AVL’s Chief Operating Officer for the UK & Europe, Julian Dyer said, “Gaining distribution in Tesco is incredibly exciting for us, and we are firmly on track to achieve our goal of significant distribution within top retail channels. Our ambition is to make McGuigan Zero the most successful alcohol-free wine brand in the UK, which we are confident we can achieve over the next year. We have an incredible product that we are hugely proud of, and we want to drive as much awareness of Zero within the category as possible.

“The steady growth of the category confirms that consumers are continuing to turn to zero alcohol products as credible and delicious alternatives to their regular wine repertoire as a means to reduce their overall unit consumption, and Zero is the premium product in response to that.

The range was launched last November in direct response to the rising global trend, which has seen the alcohol-free category in the UK grow +16.7% year-on-year*. Consumer demand for non-alcoholic alternatives shows no sign of abating and McGuigan Zero plans to play a leading category role, with great taste and great range choice, supported by targeted brand activation.

The Zero family comprises five quality crafted alcohol-free wines, featuring a Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Rosé, Shiraz and Sparkling. Created to maintain appealing varietal characteristics, it also contains no artificial sweeteners or additives.

McGuigan is also expanding its Zero range into smaller formats from September 2020, available in 187ml and a 200ml Sparkling Piccolo. These new formats deliver to a different need and consumption occasion, giving consumers further choice within the category.

Launched in 2019 after a two-year development process, the range is made using technology and know-how unique to the brand’s Buronga Hill winery in New South Wales.

The brand uses the latest spinning cone technology, working at low temperatures to gently remove alcohol after the fermentation process, ensuring the wines maintain their delicate fruit flavours.

The McGuigan Zero 750ml range is available to buy now from Asda, Booths, Budgens, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, Tesco Ireland and in Tesco supermarkets nationwide, RRP £5 per bottle.
