A burgeoning engineering design and project management company has capitalised on its reputation by achieving Occupational Health and Safety Standard OHSAS18001.

Lorien Engineering Solutions, based in Burton upon Trent, has been awarded the internationally recognised assessment standard and specification in recognition of its dedication to the provision of a safe workplace.

The company designs and delivers manufacturing projects, and is a leading health and safety practice in sectors including brewing, drinks, food, life sciences, sustainability and waste, acting on behalf of major national and multi-national manufacturing organisations.

Commenting on the firm’s latest accreditation, Lorien’s health and safety manager Brian Youl said: “We are delighted to achieve the OHSAS18001 standard. It reflects Lorien’s commitment to a safe working environment, an open and honest culture and continuous improvement.

“Our people are our most important asset and the OHSAS 18001 Policy and Procedures have been written with their health and safety as the paramount consideration. It also assures our clients that Lorien takes Health Safety and Welfare very seriously.”

In addition to this latest accreditation, Lorien was awarded a RoSPA Order of Distinction in 2013 for the seventh successive year, representing 21 years of Gold Awards from RoSPA. The company is also a member of health and safety accreditation scheme, SafeContractor, alongside IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health) and aPS (Association for Project Safety).
