tomatos.jpgTo celebrate British Tomato Week (19th – 25th May) Linpac are launching a new ten cell tomato tray to complement their existing range. The tray will hold ten plum tomatoes, meeting the increased demand from the public for larger packets of tomatoes. Tomatoes are the UK’s fourth most commonly eaten fruit with 420,000 tonnes eaten by the British public per year. (Source: the British Tomato Growers Association)

The tray is designed so each tomato is individually protected, ensuring they reach the consumer in perfect condition. The design also provides excellent presentation by allowing the consumer to see the high quality of each fruit they buy.

Anthony Debus, Linpac Packaging Fresh Produce Category Manager said: “We are keen to support the tomato industry by responding to their packaging needs.

“As consumers become increasingly health conscious the demand for this nutritious and tasty fruit increases. We have produced a larger pack size which also provides high level protection and presentation, so consumers know they are buying the best produce available.”

The new tray is made from High Impact Polystyrene and is suitable for flowrap applications. The standard tray is black but other colours are available on request.

LINPAC Packaging specialise in developing better packaging solutions for packers, retailers and consumers.
British Tomato Week is on 19th – 25th May and is run by the British Tomato Association.
