Fair Deal Trading launches the world’s first socially and environmentally responsible household glove – A pioneering cooperation between UK Company and Lalan
UK Company FairDeal Trading household gloves are made from Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified latex. This natural rubber is sourced from a responsibly managed plantation in Sri Lanka. FairDeal Trading also pays a fair trade premium for each kilo of rubber used: So far EUR 100.000 has been paid to contractual rubber suppliers that feed into the household gloves supply chain.
Brand name ‘Green Tips’ household gloves are flock lined, hard wearing and durable, an increased weight of glove has been carefully selected in order to ensure a long life. Even the packaging of Green Tips Gloves is environment friendly. Instead of the ubiquitous polybags, FairDeal Trading has opted for carton sleeves made from cardboard, which is easy to recycle.
The Fair Trade premium for rubber that went to FairDeal Trading’s Sri Lankan source has in particular been used to improve the safe drinking water supply in a neglected section of a supplier plantation. The decision to use the fund in this way has been taken by a committee, in which management jointly decided how best to use the extra funds for the improvement of the living and working conditions of the workers.
With years of experience in trading responsibly and sourcing fair trade latex through direct involvement with producers, FairDeal Trading have acquired a world wide reputation for producing competitively priced, quality products, most recently with the innovative new market brand, fittingly called ‘Green Tips’. FairDeal Trading has been using Fairly Traded rubber from Sri Lanka in its ETHLETIC sneaker brand and other Fairly Traded rubber based products for over 15 years.
