thatchers-katy-roseThatchers Cider is continuing to bring further innovation into the cider market this year with the introduction of a new style cider – Katy Rosé. Crafted in Somerset from the finest English Katy apples, Katy Rosé takes its characteristic blush from the colour of the apple, to produce a soft, light and fruity, pink cider.

“We believe we are the first to press this style of blush cider. The technique of taking colour from the fruit itself is borrowed from the wine industry, and we have carefully adapted it for our cider production,” says Martin Thatcher, managing director of Thatchers Cider.

“The result is a stylish pink cider that has the appearance of a rosé wine but the light and fruity taste of a contemporary cider. This fusion of two of the country’s most dynamic drink styles creates a new approach to cider which we believe people will love.”

At 5.4% abv, lower than the traditional Thatchers Katy at 7.4%, and packaged in a wine-style 750ml flint bottle, Katy Rosé is being targeted firmly at the female market. It has an RRP of £3.79.

Due to the ongoing demand for Thatchers Katy – which established Thatchers as one of the country’s most innovative producers of premium bottled ciders – a further ten acres of orchard are being planted with Katy trees this spring.

“At Thatchers we have always thrived on coming up with new ideas that will keep the industry moving forward and our customers wanting more – whether it be developments in the orchards, or new products from our cider makers. In today’s market it is essential that that we continue to innovate and broaden the customer base.

“Katy Rosé is elegant, stylish and classy and will appeal to the aspiring professional female who loves to socialise.”
