Unlocking the opportunity to enjoy perfect Espresso Martini’s at home

Kahlúa is giving consumers the chance to enjoy the perfect Espresso Martini at home or on-the-go, by offering one of the UK’s Top 10 cocktails drunk at home[1] in a handy ready-to-drink (RTD) format. Ready to pour and perfect for sharing, the new can uses ‘widget technology’ to ensure the perfectly frothy top is consistent each and every time.

In a UK-first for RTD cocktail cans, the can is infused with nitrogen to create the classic Espresso Martini foam on top. The 250ml can is filled to only 200ml to allow headspace for the nitro foam, which give the drink its velvety smooth finish.

Coffee culture continues to boom in the UK and Kahlúa has become synonymous with the Espresso Martini, which is enjoying a resurgence in popularity in line with the nation’s fixation with quality coffee. The drink is now the fourth most popular cocktail globally[2].

Toni Ingram, Head of Marketing for Pernod Ricard UK, comments: “The popularity of cocktails and making them at home is growing, with consumers seeking to replicate the on-trade experience. Tapping into this opportunity, we are launching the first nitro-technology Espresso Martini can to recreate the perfect on-trade cocktail, allowing retailers to take some share of this growing occasion.”

Pre-mixed drinks are experiencing healthy growth within the grocery channel, growing +6.7 in value sales2. Within this Pernod Ricard UK’s offering, which includes ranges from Absolut, Jameson and Malibu, is growing ahead of the category at +20.2%[3]. RTD cans are striding ahead, growing +17.9% overall, and Pernod Ricard UK brands are driving this with staggering value growth across particularly for Malibu; due to the recent success of its latest addition Malibu Pina Colada, and Absolut Mixt, which recently added new flavour Raspberry & Lemon.

Available exclusively in Waitrose from 17th September 2018, Kahlua Espresso Martini RTDs are available in 12 x 250ml cases with an RRP of £1.90.
