organic-pet-packagesInspired by a love of animals and a desire to promote healthy alternatives to mainstream pet biscuits, The Organic Pet Food Company has introduced a range of certified organic, traditionally baked treats and biscuits for dogs and cats.

Research conducted recently by the Global Pet Food Industry Outlook identified ‘humanisation’ (treating pets like family) as the number one trend in consumer buying decisions relating to pet food, outranking packaging, convenience and ingredients. Capitalising on this, an increasing environmental awareness and demand for ‘green’ and organic foods, The Organic Pet Food Company is predicting growth in the UK’s natural pet food industry to mirror that of the USA*.

“Owners are increasingly looking for good healthy food choices for their animals and are frustrated by the limited range of choices available for their pets.  Families want their pets to have the best chance of long, healthy, happy lives, and they know what a vital role nutrition plays in this,” says Rozanne Gallon, co-founder and director of The Organic Pet Food Company.

The Organic Pet Food Company’s recipes include ingredients with beneficial vitamins and minerals, without the addition of preservatives, additives, salt or sugar, and are designed to inspire a healthier way of life, and enjoyment for both human and pet.

The range comes in different sizes from training treat Minis, to Jumbo biscuits, and includes delicious and unusual flavours: Sun-dried tomato, spinach & herb, Cinnamon Honey, Banana (with glucosamine & green tea), Mint Herb, and gluten free low-fat Carrot & Apple.

“We set out to make products that deliver real added value and health benefits,” says Gallon, “so we have worked with pet nutritionists to develop the range to offer the optimum, balanced nutritional content.

“For example, ingredients such as sun-dried tomato, spinach, banana, carrot and apple are all excellent sources of vitamins, dietary fibre and essential nutrients and minerals. Other ingredients, including glucosamine, spinach, garlic, parsley and mint, have been added to help maintain healthy bones and joints. The vitamins and minerals in the organic ingredients also help provide a good source of dietary fibre, protein and antioxidants and green tea and seaweed are high in natural antioxidants.”

*The US natural pet food industry, worth $1b in 2007 is predicted to double in size by 2012.
