Burton’s Biscuit Co. is marking today’s National Biscuit Day (May 29th) with product donations throughout the UK to those supporting people in need.

As the current pandemic continues to highlight just how many people feel isolated or lonely, across its bakeries Burton’s has identified a number of charities or organisations which focus on combatting loneliness or supporting elderly people at risk of social isolation.

Today, those nominated charities will receive a bumper Burton’s Biscuits hamper full of some of the nation’s favourites including Maryland Cookies, Jammie Dodgers, Wagon Wheels, Thomas Fudge’s and Paterson shortbread.

“The love and care these organisations show for people in need, including those facing loneliness, is truly inspirational and we wanted to show our support and appreciation with donations in recognition and applause of the tremendous work they are doing,” says Nick Field, Burton’s Biscuits CEO.

“We’ve always had a deep-rooted commitment to our local communities and we’re proud to be supporting those most in need during these challenging times.”

Burton’s has been supporting hundreds of charitable organisations with product donations since the start of the pandemic, including donating to the NHS the equivalent volume of every single biscuit produced between 8pm and 9pm on Thursday nights, as part of its support for the Clap for Carers initiative.
