harrisoneuropacIn-mould labelled containers provide major efficiency, cost saving and point of sale benefits plus help customer obtain supermarket listings

Increased production line efficiencies, reduced costs and enhanced on-shelf impact together with the ability to provide short runs and stockholding capacity are the key reasons why Munchy Seeds has chosen plastics packaging specialist Harrison Europac (tel: 020 8254 2300) to supply tamper evident, in-mould labelled polypropylene tubs for its range of upmarket roasted seed mixes.

Harrison Europac – the exclusive UK and Ireland distributor of Toppac injection moulded plastics containers for the food industry – is producing clear, re-sealable 125g & 200g tubs for six products in the Munchy Seeds range: three savoury roasted seeds mixes, two spicy roasted seed blends and a sweet vanilla dusted pumpkin seed mix.

Established ten years ago, Munchy Seeds originally applied self-adhesive labels to tubs using an in line label applicator located at its production facility in Suffolk. In a bid to become a more mainstream product and help obtain supermarket listings the company launched a bright and cheeky new look in a range of innovative packaging formats, two of which included Harrison Europac‘s in-mould labelled polypropylene containers.

The eye-catching packs have subsequently helped reduce costs and double line packing speeds.

Crispin Clay, Managing Director, Munchy Seeds comments: “Without doubt Harrison Europac‘s tubs proved pivotal in helping us achieve a listing with Tesco and drive sales in Waitrose. The in-mould label, stylish design, rigidity and resealability all combine to convey the mainstream and functional image expected by today’s consumers and retailers.”

He continues: “We are a small business and the personal service provided by Harrison Europac really appeals to us. They even arranged for the Managing Director of Toppac to visit our plant and help resolve the usual teething issues experienced on a packaging line when you carry out a major retooling exercise of this nature. In addition, the ability to fulfil short runs and provide stockholding capacity ensures we meet our Just-in-Time manufacturing objectives.”

Since it was established in 1989, Harrison Europac has built an unrivalled reputation for high quality plastics packaging products, supplying major blue chip customers in the ready meal, fresh meat, cold foods and snacks, and ambient food sectors with a wide range of containers and trays produced from IPS, CPET, APET, PP, PLA, MAPET® and AMPET®.

Toppac is a Denmark-based manufacturer of injection-moulded packaging specialising in lightweight plastics containers for the European food industry.
