Gü, the number one chilled dessert brand[1], is expanding two of its popular ranges following their successful launches last year. A new Double Chocolate flavour is introduced to the Gü Light range from 21st April, while Gü Milk Chocolate Mousse with Caramelised Biscuit will hit shelves from 10th May. After a period of sustained success for the brand, both products will help retailers offer shoppers even more choice within the premium desserts market.

Gü remains integral to the success of chilled desserts, contributing almost 50% of the value sales[2] growth in the past year alone and growing ahead of any other premium dessert brand[3]. Gü Mousses has achieved £4.3m in value sales since launch[4], and has been a driving force behind the brand’s recent success. Gü Light has also shaken up the category, gaining £1.9m sales in the past year[5] and offering shoppers restaurant quality desserts at under 200 calories a portion.

Amy Heap, marketing director at Gü, comments: “We have seen consumers embracing our new products and we’re keen to keep momentum going by capitalising on demand for more premium choice and flavours. The Milk Chocolate Mousse with Caramelised Biscuit – inspired by the traditional French delicacy of accompanying chocolate mousse with a small biscuit – is the first of its kind in the UK market, with a biscuit layer underneath the mousse. By offering something different, we’re helping increase purchase frequency within the category and continuing to drive growth.

“As the leading brand in chilled desserts, it’s important that we listen to consumer feedback and our Gü Light range was designed to offer shoppers a lower calorie option, without compromising on taste. We’re introducing our Double Chocolate dessert to the line-up as confectionery flavour is something that is high on shoppers’ wish lists when it comes to lighter treats.”

Gü Light Double Chocolate Dessert will carry an MRSP of £2.50 and will be available from 21st April, also sporting a re-invigorated design. Gü Milk Chocolate Mousse with Caramelised Biscuit will carry an MRSP of £3.40 and is available from 10th May. The launches will be supported by social and digital marketing activity.
