Grace Foods UK, the UK’s leading supplier of Caribbean food and drink*1, is enabling retailers to take advantage of rising consumer demand for exciting new flavours from around the world.

The company accounts for more than one third of all Caribbean food and drink sold in the UK*1 and boasts a broad range of products including chilli sauces range Encona, nutritionally enriched milk drink Nurishment and Grace Aloe Vera drinks.

“This is an exciting time for the world cuisine sector with growing numbers of consumers expanding their taste horizons and seeking new and exotic flavours,” says Nyree Chambers, Head of Marketing for Grace Foods UK.

“People are travelling to more exotic destinations and this, coupled with the trend for scratchcooking, means retailers have seen an increase in shoppers looking to bring their favourite flavours from around the globe into their own kitchen. The versatility of the Encona range enables consumers to add exciting world flavours to any meal meaning that retailers can generate maximum profits.”

These trends are reflected in the impressive growth of the Afro- Caribbean category, which is worth over £96 million in the UK, and growing at +18% YoY in convenience.*2

Such is the popularity of Caribbean food that Caribbean Food Week will be celebrating its sixth year in 2017 (21st August – 28th August). Organised by Grace Foods, the Week has become the UK’s biggest celebration of Caribbean food and drink for retailers and consumers.

“Grace Foods is the leading supplier of Caribbean food and drink in the UK with a 35.9% market share*1,” says Chambers. “We are perfectly placed to meet the needs of consumers looking for authentic taste experiences thanks to our unique heritage in the category and our range of longtrusted food and drink brands.”

Encona, the UK’s no.1 hot pepper sauce brand*2, has launched a limited edition Carolina Reaper Chilli Sauce; the hottest ever to be produced by a mainstream table sauce brand.

The sauce, which launched in April, is available in 142ml glass bottle format (RRP £1.49 / case sizes of 6), featuring the Carolina Reaper chilli, blended with tomatoes, garlic, cumin and orange to create a well-rounded, fiery and fruity flavour.

The impactful limited edition label and striking pack design creates standout on shelf, with a bold heat warning, daring consumers to take on the chilli challenge.

“This is the hottest sauce that Encona has ever produced, using the Carolina Reaper chilli – a chilli renowned for being the hottest in the world,” says Sam Bidgood, Brand Manager at Grace Foods UK.

“Encona’s Carolina Reaper Chilli Sauce enables retailers to tap into consumer demand for sauces that are full of flavour and hotter than ever. There is a huge profit opportunity for retailers looking to develop their hot sauce offering, and the ‘get it while it’s here’ appeal of a limited edition sauce will only add to this.”

The launch is being supported by digital and social activity, PR and in-store POS. Grace Foods UK is urging retailers to stock up on this unique sauce to maximise sales during the summer months.
