Co-op relaunched three further stores in the last week following major makeovers to transform the customer experience.
Stores in Brighton, Whitehawk Road; Portree, Bank Street and Bristol, Broomhill Road, all re-opened after undergoing an extensive investment programme.
Earlier this year Co-op revealed that around 80 of its existing stores would undertake major refurbishment.
Whitehawk Road also benefits from an extended back of shop and warehousing to enable the store to better serve its community. Additional services at the store include payment services via PayPoint, and parcel collections through DPD, along with Amazon and InPost Lockers. The store is also a fulfilment hub for Co-op’s leading quick commerce operation, with groceries hand-picked fresh in the local store for fast and convenient online home delivery locally through Co-op’s own online shop – shop.coop.co.uk – and via Just Eat, Uber Eats and Deliveroo.
The stores all include a focus on fresh and healthy produce, food-to-go and meal deals; Fairtrade products, pizzas, flowers; ready meals, award winning wines and every day essentials.
New refrigeration supports Co-op’s work to continue to cut its carbon footprint, and soft plastic recycling is also available, enabling shoppers to return harder to recycle materials such as crisp packets and bread bags, lids from ready meals, biscuit wrappers and, pet food pouches.
Self-scan tills provide additional ease, speed and convenience especially at busier times in the seasonal stores.
Member price savings create additional value for Co-op’s member-owners, with personalised offers for members and lower prices on the products shoppers buy most. And, in Portree discounts are also available for Young Scot cardholders.
Supporting UK farmers all of Co-op’s fresh meat – including in its ready meals, pies and sandwiches – is 100% British.
Joan Harkiss, Co-op’s Portree Store Manager – who has worked for the Co-op for more than 35 years, said: “The store looks fantastic, transformed with a bright and fresh new look. We pride ourselves on being able to deliver the quality, choice and value which can be enjoyed by everyone, and really look forward to welcoming our members and customers back into their local Co-op. We’re here to contribute to local life and conveniently serve and support our community.”
Co-op is one of the world’s largest consumer-owned co-operatives, with its history dating back 180 years. Its 6.2m members own the business and play an intrinsic part in the governance of the organisation.
