The hayfever season is fast approaching this year. It brings misery for anything up to 12 million people in the UK, and can affect school, work, socialising and even sleeping. Sufferers will be looking to rid themselves of symptoms such as runny noses, itchy eyes, dry mouths and sneezing.
Schering-Plough, makers of Clarityn Allergy (loratadine) – an effective non-sedating antihistamine for the control of hayfever symptoms – is supporting the brand with integrated marketing and advertising activities during the 2009 hayfever season. Schering-Plough is putting a significant amount of investment behind the consumer activity (TV, radio, print and online) this year with a £1.6 million spend.
The core campaign, “Living for the Weekend”, is designed to encourage hayfever sufferers to live “Clarityn Clear”, by getting out and enjoying the fantastic outdoor events happening around the country this summer. Tickets for some of the biggest shows and festivals in the UK and Ireland have been secured for giveaways on the newly revamped Clarityn website: http://www.claritynallergy.co.uk, launching at the end of April.
Clarityn Allergy contains the active ingredient loratadine, which is an effective non-sedating antihistamine. It offers quick relief – some people will experience symptom relief as early as 10-20 minutes after taking the first dose, with the majority of sufferers’ symptoms improving within 45 minutes. Clarityn Allergy keeps working – a single dose offers 24 hours relief from hayfever symptoms.
David Hewitt, Business Unit Director – OTC, Schering-Plough comments: “We understand the misery and irritation that hayfever can cause people. Clarityn offers sufferers escape from their symptoms in a way that does not disrupt their daily life. We are delighted to be supporting this campaign, enabling people with hayfever to understand that they can stay in control of their symptoms by taking a once daily dose of an effective antihistamine such as Clarityn Allergy.”
Schering-Plough is investing in advertising and marketing activities during the 2009 hayfever season. The Clarityn Allergy advertising campaign, entitled ‘Living Clarityn Clear’, can be seen in press and on TV during May and June.
