Fowler Welch has won a major contract based at its Heywood depot from manufacturer of branded confectionery and meringues, Lees of Scotland.

The food supply chain expert will now be responsible for handling Lees UK’s core distribution, which will see them deliver over 60,000 pallets a year.

Known for its flexible customer relationships and its openness to support bespoke supply chain solutions, Fowler Welch started the new contract in April 2017 after a detailed selection process.

As the retail market continues to diversify and manufacturers are feeling increasing pressure to meet the demands of multiple retailers, innovative and efficient solutions are key to maintaining competitiveness. Fowler Welch took the brief from Lees of Scotland and delivered a range of services under one roof in a centralised location that will simplify Lees’ supply chain and support the business in maintaining overall efficiency.

Steven Purves, Lees of Scotland supply chain director said: “Fowler Welch were identified as a wellrespected ambient logistics provider, known for good relationships with major retailers and an excellent location at Heywood which was well positioned to service Lees customers.

“When considering the move to Fowler Welch, we were impressed with the professionalism of the management at Heywood and the customer service set up, but mostly the team’s ability to identify areas for improvement and bring bespoke reporting to our requirements which offers us vital end-to-end traceability.

“The move itself was virtually seamless and we have been pleased with the level of service to date which has met our expectations and we look forward to continuing the successful partnership.”
