Officially launching in Waitrose this month

This month, Four Pillars Gin – Australia’s most awarded gin distillery and the reigning IWSC International Gin Producer of the Year – hits UK shelves for the first time with a new major retail listing.

Launching in Waitrose, Four Pillars cult favourite Bloody Shiraz Gin will be available to British consumers in 200+ stores nationwide (RRP £35.00).

Four Pillars gained worldwide acclaim this year when it was crowned IWSC 2019 International Gin Producer of the Year, beating well-established distilleries from across the globe. The contemporary Australian gin maker has gained a strong footprint in the UK on-trade and independents since 2015 but had yet to secure a major national retail listing – until now.

Stuart Gregor, co-founder of Four Pillars, said: “The UK is our biggest market outside of Australia and this listing marks a huge step forward for us. We think (and now know) that our Bloody Shiraz is the best bloody gin in the world, and we can’t wait to get more of it to our gin-loving friends across Britain.”

Four Pillars Bloody Shiraz Gin has become a phenomenon since it was first created for World Gin Day in the Yarra Valley in 2015. The result of an experiment-gone-right, the Bloody Shiraz Gin is what happens when you mix Four Pillars Rare Dry Gin with cool climate shiraz grapes sourced from the Yarra Valley and surrounding Victorian regions. No additional sugar, colourings or flavours are added, just bloody good gin and bloody delicious shiraz grapes.

The shiraz grapes are soaked in gin for eight weeks, before they are pressed to release the purple ginny liquid, and more Rare Dry Gin is added to bring the gin up to bottling strength. The result is a beautifully balanced gin with a delicious sweetness and notes of pine forest, white pepper, plum and spices.

Four Pillars has powered the growth of Australian gin; back in 2015, Australian gin brands sold 22.3k 9LEs worldwide, and Four Pillars held just 16% of that total volume[1]. Between 2015 and 2019, Australian-produced gin sales worldwide grew by 356% (79.4k 9LEs) and Four Pillars was responsible for 53% of that growth (41.9k 9LEs)[2]. In 2019, Australian gin brands sold 101.7k 9LEs worldwide, with Four Pillars representing 45% of that total volume (45.5k 9LEs)[3].

The gin maker continues to go from strength to strength and is now Australia’s fastest growing spirit and the third largest premium gin brand in the Australian market, behind only Bombay Sapphire and Tanqueray[4].
