Metal detector specialist invests £2million and customers benefit from extra production capacity, more flexibility, shorter lead times & reduced costs.
In a total investment worth some £2million, Fortress Technology Europe has confirmed it is now manufacturing high performance ‘Phantom’ metal detectors for the UK and European food and pharmaceutical industries from its new 10,500sq ft state-of-the-art facility located in Banbury, Oxfordshire.
In addition, the company has more than trebled headcount during the past 12 months, launched a raft of new products, made several high ranking promotions and invested heavily in skills training.
At a time when many UK businesses are taking production overseas, mainly to China and Eastern Europe, this move also further reinforces Fortress Technology’s commitment to its CSR and Environmental policies.
Sarah Ketchin, Managing Director at Fortress Technology explains: “The decision was made on commercial grounds after careful consideration of the needs of the UK business, and as a direct result of the increasing market demand for the Fortress range of metal detection systems, most particularly within the territories supported by the European office. Since the move to bigger premises last year we have focused on getting ready for production with further investment in equipment, training and highly skilled personnel.”
She continues: “The new production facility is an important milestone for the on-going development of Fortress Technology which up to now has solely concentrated on manufacture at its headquarters in Canada and from a production unit in Brazil. We have already shipped a number of metal detectors from the UK and look forward to further expansion both in the domestic market and overseas.”
