Food packaging innovators Sirane is exhibiting its ever-growing product range at North America’s largest seafood show for the first time next month.
The UK-based packaging design and manufacturing company will head to the Boston Seafood Show (March 10-12), with a stand in Seafood Processing America.
Sandra Evans, sales manager for the US, said: “Sirane has some great innovations for packaging and cooking seafood, and we will be presenting them to the North American market for the first time at Seafood Processing America.
“I am confident the products we can offer will be very well received, as we are taking a whole new level of innovation to the North American seafood industry.”
Recent innovations include the Si-bag™, a cook-in bag which allows all the flavours to be sealed in for simple, tasty cooking – perfect for creating seafood-based recipes. It is aimed at both individuals cooking at home looking for a quick but tasty meal, and at over-the-counter retailers, who can send customers home with a ‘meal in a bag’.
The cook-in bag is designed to be used safely in a conventional oven up to 200 degrees celsius, in a microwave – and even in a freezer for subsequent reheating.
All of the natural flavours of the contents – be it meat, fish or vegetables – are sealed in the bag during cooking, creating a sensational and healthy meal.
Another innovation that will be shown at the seafood expo is Sira-Cook™ Smart-Release™, a microwave bag with seals that open during cooking, allowing for perfect infusion of sauces. Sira-Cook™ Smart Release™ is perfect for seafood ready meals – with perfect tasting fish and sauce in just a matter of minutes.
Ian Beardsall, director of product process and development, said: “Sira-Cook™ Smart-Release™ is a unique and cost-effective concept. The seals only open at pre-set temperatures, so food is cooked to absolute perfection in a matter of minutes.
“The venting seals on Sira-Cook™ Smart-Release™ can be tuned for retailers to meet the cooking requirements of any contents – seafood, poultry, or even desserts.”
Also on show will be the company’s range of absorbent packaging for fish and seafood – Dri-Fresh™ Sea-fresh™ – which have been designed to quickly and effectively absorb any juices released during transportation.
“Sirane has a high level of expertise in absorbency,” added Sandra, “and the products have been developed and refined over a number of years. We can offer products that are tried and tested, and perfect for anyone transporting seafood.”
The company will aim to build on its growing reputation in North America, having exhibited its fresh produce range for two years at the popular Fresh Summit.
