As the cost-of-living crisis deepens, millions of people across the UK are being forced into food insecurity1. To help tackle the rise of hunger, Hot Food-to-Go brand Rollover, teamed up with the Co-op to raise money for FareShare, the UK’s biggest charity fighting hunger and food waste.

Lindsay Boswell, CEO at FareShare

This charitable partnership is the first of its kind for Rollover, a proud part of Pilgrim’s Food Masters. For every Original Rollover Hotdog bought in Co-op stores, the brand donated the equivalent of one meal to FareShare. The partnership has already proven a great success with Rollover reaching the target donation of £25k in November.

Elodie Bretz, Head of Marketing at Rollover, told Grocery Trader: “At a time when so many people are facing hunger it was important to us all at Rollover to do something to help. FareShare is an incredible organisation working hard for a cause close to our hearts. Since there was so much passion to help the charity from within the Rollover team, once we had the opportunity we pulled out all the stops to make it happen.

“This is the first time we’ve run a charitable on-pack promotion which meant that we had to start from scratch. We knew that the cause would connect with our customers, and I’m delighted to see the reception it has had. The Co-op was a natural partner for this programme because of their long history of supporting charitable causes. We already had a strong long-standing relationship with Co-op, as the brand stocks our hotdogs and burgers across stores and forecourts, which helped us deliver this promotion at scale and raise vital funds for FareShare.”

Cameron Rigg, Hot Food-To-Go Buyer at Co-op, commented: “Co-op is a long-standing supporter of FareShare and we’re delighted that we’ve been able to bolster our own food redistribution work with the additional fundraising partnership with Rollover. At Co-op we understand the power of co-operation and what can be achieved when organisations and businesses work together with the same ambition in mind.”

Lindsay Boswell, CEO at FareShare, said: “We’re incredibly grateful for this generous donation from Rollover and the Co-op through the sale of the Original Rollover Hotdogs. The money raised will make a huge difference in helping us get good-to-eat surplus food, that may otherwise go to waste, to people across the UK impacted by the cost of living crisis.”
