All products are made to recipes created by former chef and Managing Director of Feel Free for Gluten Free Sally Allister. Sally, who has coeliac disease and leads a gluten free lifestyle herself, says, “Recent changes in food allergen legislation mean that diners with special diets have higher expectations when eating out.

“Our gluten and wheat free range has been developed with discerning free from diners in mind – people just like me. Our products offer variety and very high quality, and many are free from additional allergens such as egg, milk and soya.”

Feel Free For Gluten Free’s range includes:

Pies and pasties – the Indulgence range is made with an all butter pastry; the Freedom range is also free from dairy

Frozen Italian ready meals – including lasagne, cannelloni, ravioli and penne pasta dishes

Eastern inspired snacks – including both meat and vegetable samosas, spring rolls and onion bhajis sold separately or in our ‘party pack’ selections Bread – both white and seeded loaves and baguettes

Dried pasta – four varieties of single ingredient corn pasta, including tiny alphabet pasta shapes that are ever so popular with children

Breakfast options – three varieties each of granola and granola bars, all made without oats

Baking mixes – a versatile range that includes a variety of sweet cake mixes plus savoury mixes: a dumpling mix, a vegetable suet mix and a stuffing mix

Ready to roll pastry – made to an all butter recipe and supplied frozen

Desserts – individual portion tarts made with an indulgent all butter pastry

Sweet treats – muffins, chocolate brownies and sugared ring donuts, sold frozen and individually wrapped

All Feel Free For Gluten Free products are free from gluten and wheat. Many are also free from other common allergens including egg, dairy and soya.

All non-meat products in the Feel Free For Gluten Free range have the accreditation of the Vegetarian Society following a strict assessment of the company’s manufacturing processes.

Feel Free For Gluten Free supply their products to food service customers in various case sizes, according to their needs.

Operations Director Stuart Allister says, “Thanks to Sally’s background as a chef, we understand how catering kitchens work. The majority of our products are individually wrapped to help chefs avoid cross-contamination with other allergens in a busy kitchen, as well as being useful for portion control.

“Many of our products can be supplied frozen, offering food service customers the convenience of only thawing what they know they will use each day. In addition, we have reduced our packaging to help kitchens minimise their waste and associated disposal charges.”

Sally and Stuart Allister started their Yorkshire-based free from food business in 2004 following Sally’s experiences of living a gluten free lifestyle. The frustration of the supermarket free from aisle shrinking at Christmas, Easter and whenever supermarkets ran mainstream promotions led Sally to set up her own free from online shop. She wanted to make it easier for people like herself to access quality gluten and wheat free food.

Sally and her husband Stuart launched selling other producers’ ranges.

Devising her own recipes for a range of gluten and wheat free products was a natural next step for former chef Sally and she began to have products contract manufactured. In 2010 the brand Feel Free For Gluten Free began trading.

Sally says, “We launched our Feel Free brand to give gluten free consumers just like me the choice and variety of foods that they’re entitled to – and with the quality to match. We’re proud of our products and feel that they are good enough to be served up on the plates of the whole family and not just to those who avoid wheat and gluten in their diets.”
