Iconic Rioja producer responds to summer demand with premium, sustainable 1.5L format
- Faustino, Rioja’s most iconic producer, is set to shake up summer wine sales with the launch of its first Bag-in-Box Tempranillo
- Tempranillo Bag-in-Box (BIB) has launched, perfectly timed for the peak summer sales period.
- With Spanish BIB wine up 22% year-on-year[1], the launch meets rising demand for quality-led, lower-waste formats suited to relaxed, at-home occasions.
Faustino, the largest vineyard owner in Rioja, has launched its first-ever 1.5L Tempranillo Bag-in-Box format, bringing over 160 years of winemaking heritage to one of the UK’s fastest-growing wine categories.
The launch taps into a sharp rise in consumer demand for Spanish wines in the off-trade[2] with Spanish Bag-in-Box wine sales up by 22% in volume over the past year, now accounting for 15% of all off-trade BIB sales[3]. The 1.5L size has seen significant growth[4], reflecting shopper interest in formats that offer both quality and value, alongside a lower environmental impact.
Faustino’s new 1.5L Tempranillo Bag-in-Box offers shoppers a smooth and vibrant red wine from Spain in a convenient, sustainable format. The format preserves the wine’s freshness for weeks after opening, offering a practical, lower-waste option for moderate at-home consumption. Ideal for relaxed, everyday occasions, it can be served on its own or paired with food, particularly grilled meats, BBQ dishes, strong cheeses, and roasted vegetables.
Sara Moore, Account Manager for Amber Beverage Group UK, said: “This launch marks a significant step in our strategy to bring premium, heritage-driven wines into formats that meet evolving shopper needs. This new offering responds to growing demand for convenience, sustainability, and value without compromising on the quality consumers expect from one of Rioja’s most admired producers.”
The launch continues Faustino’s long-standing commitment to sustainable winemaking. From vineyard to packaging, the brand is actively working to reduce its environmental footprint while staying true to the values of craftsmanship and quality that have defined it. In recognition of its legacy and continued relevance, Faustino was recently ranked #15 in the 2025 World’s Most Admired Wine Brands, further cementing its position as one of the global greats.
The Faustino Tempranillo Bag-in-Box is available at Tesco for an RRP of £15.50.
