Leading commercial vehicle company Euroway Group has netted a major five year FleetSure deal with logistics company C Butt, handling the fleet maintenance of the 98 refrigerated trailers recently put into service by Butts for its newly gained long term logistics contract with discount supermarket chain Netto.
Under the deal with Netto, C Butt purchased these new refrigerated trailers that are being used to distribute to 196 stores from Netto’s regional distribution centres in South Elmsall, West Yorkshire and Daventry, Northants.
According to Clive Hodgkinson, Managing Director at C Butt, “The Netto distribution contract is one of our biggest new business gains. However, to ensure we maintain expected service levels for the new trailer fleet, we decided to award Euroway the contract for the five year trailer fleet maintenance programme.”
Using Euroway’s popular FleetSure programme, the fleet maintenance contract is an all-inclusive repair and maintenance deal that covers not just the trailers themselves, but also key elements such as tyres and the Carrier Vector 1850MT transport refrigeration systems as well as the tuckaway tail lifts. Euroway will also manage the warranty process on all the ancillary trailer equipment giving C Butt one point of contact for all aspects of the reefer trailer maintenance over the five year time period.
“We were impressed by the professional attitude and approach of Euroway throughout the contract negotiation talks. They were very much on the same wavelength as us, with the same objectives of ensuring that Netto receives optimum service levels at all times. The FleetSure programme will make life much easier for our fleet engineering department, achieving greater efficiencies as well as enabling costs to be kept under accurate control,” added Clive Hodgkinson.
The Euroway FleetSure contract with C Butt commenced in mid October and already C Butt are seeing the benefits as Clive Hodgkinson explains, “Euroway are already playing an important role in scheduling equipment for routine maintenance. With the Netto contract, we are straight into a key time of the year with the period from now until Christmas being the busiest ever in terms of journey numbers. With FleetSure we can ensure that trailer availability is at its highest level.”
Not only does C Butt see FleetSure as the optimum programme for the scheduling of trailers for repair and maintenance, but they also were impressed by the systems in place that protect them from unnecessary costs, through the identification and administration of warranty management.
At the same time, the Euroway fleet management programme works proactively for C Butt, raising patterns of actual or potential problems with the reefer trailers, as well as incorrect working practices.
“Our FleetSure total fleet management programme has attracted the attention of many companies in recent times. The decision to outsource the repair and maintenance of distribution fleets, both large and small, has become an acceptable and cost efficient way of ensuring the highest service levels,” said Geoff Howard, Group Sales Director at Euroway Group Ltd.
“With C Butt and Netto, we have been able to demonstrate the complete flexibility of FleetSure on a major national distribution contract and look forward to working in partnership with them over the next five years,” concluded Geoff Howard.
The five year Netto single supplier logistics contract with C Butt replaced a previous arrangement where Netto used one logistics company in the North and another in the South. The 98 C Butt trailers working on this distribution contract are a mix of Montracon (53) and Schmitz (45) 13.6m refrigerated trailers, fitted with dual compartment bodies that use moveable bulkheads.
Refrigeration is provided by the proven and popular Carrier Vector 1850MT refrigeration systems.
