Masters of all things Cheesecake, English Cheesecake Company, will ditch 20 tonnes of plastic per year thanks to a packaging redesign rolling out this week.
The plastic reduction on the company’s 214g cheesecake twin packs has condensed two plastic windows down to one to keep single-use plastic waste to a minimum. As a result, the company has integrated a smaller and thinner recyclable rPET window whilst still maintaining the necessary stability for transit and shelf life.
The move has seen the company remove an estimated 20 tonnes of plastic from their supply chain per year as Josh Laurier, Operations Director at English Cheesecake Company explains:
“Consumers are increasingly aware of the impact their food has on the environment, so this plastic reduction is the first step towards a more sustainable future at English Cheesecake Company. We’re committed to playing our part to protect the environment and it’s small changes like this that can make a big difference.
As such, we are thrilled to have been able to reduce our packaging consumption whilst still maintaining the recognisable English Cheesecake Company branding and design on our twin packs of cheesecake. Same great product, far less packaging!”
English Cheesecake Company’s twin pack flavours include Luxury Vanilla Cheesecake with Lotus Biscoff, Silky Salted Caramel & Blondie Cheesecake, Zesty Lemon & Mascarpone
Cheesecake and Creamy White Chocolate & Honeycomb cheesecake and are available to purchase at Waitrose, Sainsbury’s, Ocado, Co Op & Booths stores.
