Irish food producer Clonakilty Food Co has announced its popular Clonakilty Whitepudding and Clonakilty sausages will be added to 100 Sainsbury’s stores. This extension comes on the back of current consumer demand for familiar, trusted products and comfort foods which can be used to create home cooked meals during lockdown.

Sainsbury’s has been stocking Clonakilty products since January 2015, when the companies famous Blackpudding was first introduced to the retailers’ shelves. In 2018 its Sainsbury’s Store listings were doubled and since then, the addition of Clonakilty White pudding and Clonakilty sausages have seen over 100% uplift in volume sales.

Colette Twomey, MD of Clonakilty Food Co, said: “We’re very pleased to be able to continue our relationship with Sainsbury’s and scaling up to further stores means more people in the UK will be able to get hold of our White pudding and Clonakilty sausages, allowing them to experience what else we have to offer along with our Blackpudding. Clonakilty is well known in Ireland, it’s great to see UK consumers get on board and experience the versatility of black and white pudding not just as a traditional fry-up breakfast but also as an addition to a variety of dishes.”

Clonakilty combines traditional techniques with top quality ingredients to create exceptionally tasty products. Clonakilty Whitepudding has a rich, deep flavour and a distinctive taste. The traditional Clonakilty sausages are made with the same passion for quality as its puddings that originated in the Clonakilty butcher shop.
