As the weather cools down, Chocomel, the UK’s best-selling premium milk brand in convenience[1], is heating up – literally. Renowned for its signature hot chocolate around Europe, this month, the brand will debut a new variant: Chocomel Hot Chocolate, bringing the indulgence and convenience of café-style hot chocolate directly into consumers’ homes…and mugs!
Chocomel’s heritage is deeply rooted in Dutch tradition; originating from the Netherlands, it’s been a beloved choice for hot chocolate enthusiasts for decades and the brand’s commitment to excellence has made it a staple in Europe, where it is celebrated for its rich, creamy taste. Now, Chocomel Hot Chocolate is making its debut in the grocery channel nation-wide, launching exclusively in Sainsbury’s, before arriving with a bang in Tesco on the 5th November to coincide with Bonfire Night.
In a category that has seen limited innovation in recent years, Chocomel’s latest offering is designed to make it easier than ever for consumers to enjoy café-quality hot chocolate at home. The product’s secret recipe ensures a velvety, indulgent feel with perfect consistency every time, addressing the frustrations of traditional powders that often fall short on texture and taste. Packaged in a convenient 750ml tetra pack, Chocomel Hot Chocolate is engineered for ease of use – it’s hot chocolate without the faff! Simply pour, heat and enjoy – no mixing required.
Sure to make a splash, the launch will be supported by an in-store sampling initiative, designed to drive awareness and encourage trial. Chocomel will also be implementing a raft of disruptive, at-fixture POS materials to help bolster impulse sales.
Gabriella Sudall, Marketing Manager (Drinks Platform) at Chocomel, said: “Our consumer research revealed that the biggest frustration with traditional hot chocolate was the hassle of preparation, leading to an inconsistent taste and texture. We’ve listened to those concerns and developed a product that not only solves those pain points but makes the process easier and more convenient than ever. We’re keen to replicate the success we’ve seen across Europe, where Chocomel is synonymous with quality hot chocolate in cafés.
“We’re especially excited about the launch of Chocomel Hot Chocolate as it represents a significant opportunity for retailers to tap into the growing demand for high-quality, convenient hot chocolate options, a category that has seen limited innovation in recent years. We hope to help retailers capture a fresh segment of the market and drive exciting growth in the hot chocolate category to really fire up sales ahead of the festive period – and beyond!”
Chocomel Hot Chocolate is available at Sainsbury’s and Tesco (from 5th November) for RRP £2.70 (750ml).
