Chiltern Cold Storage Group, Ltd., an international cold storage and distribution company located in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, chose Sealed Air’s TurboTag® T-700B as the temperature monitoring device for their fleet of modern, refrigerated vehicles. The TurboTag® T-700B is a credit card sized, battery powered RFID tag that captures and delivers the temperature history of any product with which it is associated. The new system allows Chiltern door to door monitoring of temperature sensitive and perishable goods in transport across the UK and Europe.
The introduction of the TurboTag® system greatly assists the marketing of Chiltern’s Transport operations by demonstrating the use of latest technologies for product integrity. “The accuracy of TurboTag®, as well as efficient data collection software system made it the clear choice. Sealed Air’s TurboTag® system makes controlled temperature packaging ‘smart’ by integrating the benefits of rapid reading and non-contact RFID technology to record and report an individual package’s temperature history without ever opening the package. Each tag is accurate to within ± 0.5° C over the entire range of operation. A full data file of 702 measurements can be examined within two seconds. There is no need for cables or complicated software at point of checking.
