The Queen’s Award for Enterprise is the highest business accolade a UK company can receive and is recognised globally.

Brunel Healthcare, based in Swadlincote, Derbyshire, has played an instrumental role in securing this award. As the UK’s leading manufacturer of vitamins, minerals and nutritional supplements, Brunel Healthcare specialises in private label and contract manufacture of shelf ready goods for the global marketplace. Brunel Healthcare’s growth has made a significant contribution to the growth of NutraHealth’s export business.

The Queen’s Award follows the recent opening of its new state of the art, 90,000 sq ft packing and warehousing facility, also in Swadlincote, Derbyshire. The company continues to demonstrate its willingness to invest in capacity, capability and its people, with the imminent introduction of market-leading technology for soft-gelatine capsule manufacture.

The £5 million project was funded by NutraHealth to help support the strong, double-digit, export-led growth achieved over recent years; and to ensure the company has the resources it requires to fulfil a number of new long-term contracts it has recently been awarded. 60% of the company’s recent growth has come from exports, and international trade is a key priority for the future.

Brunel Healthcare’s innovative, quality-led and competitively priced products, which are manufactured on-site, are distributed to all major UK retailers and a growing number of global FMCG and Pharmaceutical companies worldwide.

The Queen’s Award for Enterprise in the International Trade category is testament to the hard work, dedication and fortitude of the whole team on the Swadlincote site who have delivered a state of the art facility to support the company’s future growth ambitions, whilst continuing to service the current and ever-increasing customer base.

The Queen’s Award for Enterprise in the International Trade category will create an economic and morale boosting effect across the Swadlincote area, showcasing the Derbyshire manufacturing site, where gold standard strategies, tactics and operations are delivering world-class vitamins, minerals and nutritional supplements. Growth over the last year has already led to 60 new jobs being created.

Heather Wheeler, prior to the dissolution of Parliament the MP for South Derbyshire, said “I have seen this company go from strength to strength, relying on an excellent local workforce and growth through innovation. This award is testimony to the all the Team at Brunel and another feather in cap for everyone in South Derbyshire.”

James McEuen, Chief Executive, NutraHealth plc, comments, “It is an honour and delight for NutraHealth and its team at Brunel to win the Queen’s Award for Enterprise for outstanding achievement in International Trade for 2015.

“It recognises the successful delivery of the first stage of a carefully considered plan, which has showcased and extended our UK vitamin and supplement manufacturing and branded businesses to customers and consumers globally.
