After the roaring success of Black Cow Christmas Spirit in 2020, which sold out in just under 48 hours, the award-winning vodka brand is bringing back its limited-edition spirit for Christmas 2021, and for the first time will be available to purchase from Ocado. After initially launching in 50cl bottles, Black Cow Christmas Spirit will be available in 70cl bottles due to its incredible popularity during last year’s festive season.
Christmas Spirit, which launched for the first time in November 2020, is the brand’s most successful launch to date after selling out in under two days. It has since gone on to win a Gold Award at the International Wine and Spirit Competition (IWSC) 2021. Having now launched for its second year running, Christmas Spirit is currently available to purchase in 50cl bottles (RRP £25) on Black Cow’s website as well as on Ocado, a brand-new listing for the festive tipple this year. The 70cl bottle (RRP £32) will launch on Black Cow’s website in late-October 2021.
As well as Christmas Spirit launching into Ocado for the first time, the brand has secured another new listing for its original Black Cow vodka, which will be available to purchase in 60 Tesco stores across South West England this autumn. The nationwide rollout of Christmas Spirit via Ocado and original Black Cow vodka via Tesco in the South West is an essential part of the Black Cow’s strategy to grow as a business as it continues to expand its product offering throughout the UK.
Black Cow’s Christmas Spirit takes its inspiration from the quintessential Christmas pudding, with citrus, cloves, cinnamon, figs, currents, raisins and vanilla all macerated in Black Cow vodka. The result is a rich amber spirit packed with an elegant, festive spice flavour.
Tasting notes given by the IWSC judges read: “Black Cow Christmas Spirit is super complex with raisins, prunes, nutmeg and cinnamon flavours packed in. Lots of rich, ripe raisin and Pedro Ximénez notes on the palate. Controlled, well balanced with some bitter touches on the finish.”
Christmas Spirit is a versatile drink. It can be served simply chilled over ice; topped with cold, crisp Champagne or sparkling wine; or as a mulled drink with warmed apple juice.
