The 2008 trend for functionality and quality at affordable prices was clearly reflected by BIC’s performance.

While the Back to School retail market showed 6.9% value growth*, BIC cemented its reputation as the first choice for kids and parents alike with a value growth of 10.1%.

Total unit sales for Back to School products also showed general growth with a 1.2% increased volume. Again, BIC outperformed the market with an incredible volume sale growth of 14.1%.

With a total sales value of more than £1.3 million in three months within the retail industry, BIC Cristal® Gel was star performer in the Back to School category with 14 million units sold.

BIC also increased its share, and became the driving growth brand, of the mechanical pencil product group in the retail channel with a 26% increase in value and 44% increase in volume.

Tipp-ex™ is still the number one correction product range with a 58% value share in the retail correction market.
