Wing Yip has received many accolades for their products and services but following his father’s success in the Enterprise Award for Business Achievements, 2009 has seen the first award specifically presented to a second generation family member.
Brian Yip, Director and son of the founder Mr Wing Yip, won the coveted Gold Medal for Young Wholesaler of the Year at a prestigious ceremony held in London by the Federation of Wholesale Distributors (FWD).
Bill Laird, Managing Director of Today’s Group, who nominated Brian Yip for the award said: “We were delighted that one of our most successful Today’s Group members has been recognised by the FWD. Wing Yip is a family owned business that has consistently remained true to its sense of values and inclusiveness and Brian epitomises all that it stands for.”
Wing Yip is widely recognised as the UK’s leading Chinese grocer with centres in Birmingham, Manchester, Cricklewood and Croydon, each providing over 2,500 products to consumers and the catering trade. The wholesale operation is run from their Birmingham head office and is managed by Brian Yip.
Brian Yip commented: “The Gold Medal award is a great accolade and I would like to thank my team for their commitment and dedication. This success can be directly attributed to an outstanding team effort and the support of the Wing Yip Company.”
Federation Gold Medals are awarded every year in recognition of standards of excellence achieved by wholesalers operating throughout the UK. Federation Gold Medals are also awarded to manufacturers who, through the year, have demonstrated their recognition of the value of the wholesale channel by marketing, new products or other activities, which have contributed to industry profitability.
