ti2Drinks company Toorank (UK) Ltd scooped a number of awards at a major drinks competition this summer and has announced plans to boost its sales force. It plans to share its sales team with Lanchester Wine Cellars Ltd, building on the two companies’ successful business relationship. Toorank also hopes this move will make its award winning, competitively priced drinks more widely available to the public.

Toorank Distilleries, which is based in Western Holland and has several other offices including one in the UK, won a total of 14 awards in different categories of the International Wine and Spirits Competition (IWSC), which took place in July.

Its ready-to-drink tropical rum-based cocktails range proved hugely successful with each of the three different drinks winning an award. TibuRon Coconut and TibuRon Mango both won Silver Medals plus Best in Class and Tiburon Pomegranate won a Bronze Medal. The Mango drink was singled out for praise and described in tasting notes as ‘a very good product and very easy drinking.’

The tropical rum-based drinks are aimed at 18 to 35 year olds and are meant to be drunk on the rocks, mixed or as an ingredient for cocktails.

Toorank also won 2 out of the 3 Gold medals awarded (one of which was also Best in Class) in the European Vodka Category. Toorank’s Akademicka Premium Polish Vodka won a Gold medal and Best in Class while its Spirit of Bong Vodka won a Gold Medal. Silver was awarded to Toorank’s Siku Vodka (Netherlands)

Other Toorank winners included its Puccini Crystal Sambuca and Aztec Tequila Gold which both won Gold Medals plus Best in Class while a Silver medal was awarded to Puccino Limonino.

AGWA De Bolivia Coca Leaf Liqueur won a Silver Medal plus Best in Class.

Christopher Lake, director of UK Sales, said he was delighted at the company’s success. “I am absolutely delighted with this crop of awards which shows that it is possible for smaller companies to make award winning drinks at affordable prices.

“And with our new enlarged sales force of 15, including 4 National Account Managers after combining the Toorank Sales Team with the team at Lanchester Wine Cellars, I am confident that many more of our award winning drinks at affordable prices will be appearing on many more shelves.

“Having a joint sales team will have many benefits. It will improve national coverage, provide a better service to our customers and enhance the choice of products. Customers will be able to purchase products from Lanchesters’ complete range, which includes the increasingly popular 187ml bottles, a product showing dramatic growth at present.

“Also, all invoicing will be centralised to save costs, thus reducing the need for price increases due to the current credit crisis.”
