Aqua Libra Co is set to accelerate the shift to healthy, sustainable hydration with the announcement of its latest innovation – the digital Flavour Tap. The Britvic owned business has created a completely new solution within the healthy hydration market, available from this month. Ideal for use in workplaces, hospitality or retail, the tap provides a sustainable option which serves still, sparkling and flavoured water. Eliminating the need for single use packaging, the Aqua Libra Co Flavour Tap can support customers in their own sustainability commitments.

Intuitive to use with a simple, touchscreen interface, the high-performance solution is ideal for any busy workplace environment. Each 500ml flavour cartridge is made with fully recyclable materials and replaces the use of 1000 500ml bottles. The unit itself features a sleek and distinctive design, while ensuring it is able to complement a variety of destinations, from premium office space, to high footfall retail environments. Available in counter-top and freestanding options, there is a solution for a range of businesses, with the Aqua Libra Co Flavour Tap offering still or sparkling water in four refreshing flavours at launch – Blackcurrant, Orange & Yuzu, Cucumber, Mint & Lime and Raspberry & Peach flavours, with zero calories and no additives. Each unit is also capable of delivering further flavours and added benefits in the future, such as electrolytes.

The Flavour Tap is built using Amazon Web Services (AWS) Internet of Things (IoT) and analytics technologies, which enables customers to analyse real-time data on the tap’s usage, for example, how many and what kinds of drinks are served, as well as the ability to identify and adjust the tap’s minimum container weight to ensure that a wide range of cups can be detected. Under the countertop, a high-tech cartridge powered by AWS IoT, releases micro-doses of sugar-free and additive-free flavouring into the water. Using AWS, the IoT sensors on the tap’s flavour cartridges also simplify operations and maintenance, as they send out automatic alerts when a cartridge needs to be changed, or if the tap is experience problems and requires attention.

Noel Dickson, Product Director for ‘Beyond the Bottle’ at Britvic, comments: “Achieving the right solutions for our customers is paramount, and collaborating with industry experts such as AWS is key to the journey. The Aqua Libra Co Flavour Tap truly defines the term ‘healthy hydration’, with quality and sustainability credentials at its heart, and has the opportunity to revolutionise the market. One flavour cartridge change takes only 30 seconds, and effectively replaces 1000 500ml plastic bottles. The solution is reducing road miles and packaging, reducing customers’ carbon footprints, and meeting customer and consumer demand. It is also an innovation that will evolve. We will be able to continue to expand our repertoire of flavours and additional functionality to ensure we are the long term partner of choice for healthy and sustainable hydration solutions.”

Darren Hardman, Vice President and General Manager of AWS in the UK & Ireland, comments: “We are proud to collaborate with Britvic on the development of the Aqua Libra Co Flavour Tap. The tap uses AWS technologies to learn how consumers interact with it and to simplify maintenance. We look forward to continuing our work with Britvic to drive innovation in the industry, and to support their aim to help customers make better, healthier choices, for their bodies and for our planet.”
